Argoe at Home – Winter Hampers 2024
We have always closed the restaurant after the last fish auctions of the year in late December. Without fresh fish from the South West markets Argoe just wouldn’t be Argoe. Last year though we launched something new to help get you through those dark winter nights after we close our doors, and keep you well fed over the Christmas break. We’re pleased to say we’ve created another beautiful hamper for 2024!
A little something from the Cornish coast, via our kitchen, to your dining table. Preserving the final landings of 2024, we’ll be braising, smoking and pickling to create an Argoe larder for your home; a selection of dishes and preserves (and Ben’s much loved bread!) to create either one extravagant four course feast, or several festive spreads scattered throughout the week.
The boxes will showcase some of our fantastic growers, farmers and fishermen - the foundation of what we do at Argoe. Whether it’s jig caught squid from the fleet of handliners fishing out of Newlyn, without doubt some of winter’s finest catch; beautiful cured ham lovingly made in North Cornwall by our good friends up at Coombeshead Farm; or a Cornish summer preserved in the form of Dan and Nat’s late season bell peppers - grilled to accompany a warming dish of braised squid - as much care and respect has gone into bringing these ingredients into our kitchen as they receive once here. This produce is a true representation of the Cornish landscapes around us – natural and respectful food production using traditional methods.
All of the dishes included will keep well until Christmas day, and some beyond, so you can choose which day or days over the festive period to enjoy them. And of course, none of this should come without wine! We’ve picked three bottles to accompany the included dishes, or to drink on their own, that can be purchased as a supplement. From an English sparkling to a juicy red from Domaine Saint Cyr, as always the focus will be on low intervention, characterful bottles that bear the marks of the hand of their makers.
Full information on product shelf life will be included in the box, alongside reheating and serving instructions and allergen information. Due to the nature of our small kitchen and the fact we regularly work with shellfish and other major allergens, unfortunately we will not be able to guarantee the complete absence of such foods in our dishes.
We have endeavoured as always to reduce the environmental impact of what we do, and will be packaging the dishes in a mixture of compostable vacuum seal bags, jars and paper wrapping, all within naturally insulated cardboard boxes from Woolcool.
Delivered nationwide and arriving on your doorstep Friday 20th December. Pre-orders will be available from 1st December.
